If you have any questions or concerns, please email Holly at firstname.lastname@example.org. Note: All beginning lifts have been made so sign up’s are officially closed. If you’re interested in participating, though, please use the email above to reach out to Holly or check out NewEthic to contact other coaches! You can build your strength and kick ass with your team in the Third annual!
Thanks all and we look forward to smashing some personal records with you!
-Ed and Holly
In this dark time, on this dark day, I realize the desperate need for secure, safe, spaces now more than ever. I see the need for community, support, and defense. We are staring down the barrel of, possibly, the most fucked up time in this country, and that’s saying a lot considering how much oppression built this culture. In recent history we have seen the Japanese in internment camps HERE, we’ve seen many folks, not just the Jewish, who were prosecuted abroad by the Nazi party, we’ve seen the rape and slaughter of animals, we’ve seen the oppression of those standing for Standing Rock; the original people of our land. The culture we were living in was steadfastly a rape culture, and today we were told that women can’t be in power but their rapists can. We can’t change this message but we can support our community. We can gain strength when the world seems like it tries, so much, to take it away. In this time we need to support one another, and remember that if they come for your neighbor and you ignore it, they will eventually come for you. It’s not all mourning though. We don’t have that luxury. Allow yourself your anger, your grief, fear, sadness, or whatever you feel. Allow your network the same rights, hold space, support, stay flexible. We need to stand strong in the face of the horrific tragedy that has just happened and the guaranteed tragedies to come. We wish there was more, but in this upside down world that is so fucked up, we are here for anyone needing safe space in the world right now. We stand as a safe space from not just the shitty pressure of the fitness industry, but from of the world too. If you need safe space, a safe community, we are here. We will always be a place where ALL folks are welcomed, as long as they are not oppressive or abusive. We feel helpless and scared too, but the only thing to do is stick together so… We are offering a free first class for anyone needing to feel strong, safe and happy, please email with “Fuck Trump” or some similar sentiment to email@example.com . If you decide to come, I’ll be writing workouts suitable for all fitness levels and there is no pressure. You can also come to stretch, meditate, get in snugs with pups, lay in the office, or do your own workout (assuming you can do this safely and confidently). This is a gym, of course, but more than that it is a community space. To all you in the streets tonight, stay safe, protect each other, and make sure someone knows where you are so you have support. To those hiding tonight, I’m so sorry for what this country has done, we got this, we just have to figure out how. Standing strong, always and forever. – Holly and the NewEthic Community

November has arrived! Which means, of course, that the “holidays” are officially upon us, which RULES! Some updates, notes, classes including BLACK FRIDAY DEALS below! We appreciate you all so much ❤ Thanks for ruling life and being bad asses! Also congrats on everyone’s PR’s, can’t wait to see you get all the gainz at the end of December! Thanks for your patience with the epic long blog post, so much to share!
The second annual NewEthic Thanksgiving/Friendsgiving will be held the last Sunday before Thanksgiving Day, the 20th. Hopefully this means ya’ll can come, get your omnom on, and still travel to see family. All vegan of course. RSVP here https://www.facebook.com/events/184566925280580/ and please update with how many guests you plan on bringing and what dish as the date gets closer. This is a dog friendly event for NON jumpy, barky or bitey, and VERY well behaved pup friends.
Mass Gainers Class!
This is Coach Ed’s class on getting big, strong and epic, held at noon on Wednesday and Friday each week. Cost is $120 a month or $20 drop in. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or sign up officially by sending payment to PayPal using this address. Yay gainz!
Ed and I will be speaking at the Harvest Home Sanctuary Toast to the Turkeys Event on Saturday the 12th from Noon to 4 pm. Come party with us, eat delicious holiday foodage, and see us talk about stuff. Link for tickets and more info at https://www.facebook.com/events/1016373831782157/. Mini Road Trip!
I’m thinking of adding classes! If you have a specific time that works, let me know. If not, would Friday at 3 pm work for you? There is also some more demand for mid day classes and later night (8 to 9 pm) classes to accommodate commute times. Let me know if that is something you’re interested in.
A Few Annoying Notes!
-Please try to be here on time. Life happens so don’t worry if one day you can’t find parking, someone just can’t find the gas pedal in front of you or you get stuck in traffic. ALL GOOD. But please try to be on time so you can properly warm up with the class and so we don’t have to wait on you. Showing up early is recommended too, especially if you have specific soreness or pain that you want or need to roll out.
-Please try RSVP for classes within 24 hrs of the class happening, or at least as soon as you can. Also, please UN RSVP in the same time period or more so I can know who to expect. Every workout is written to accommodate the needs, goals, desires and abilities of each person attending so it’s much better if I know who will be in attendance, especially when planning team or partner workouts. Thanks!!
–Friday (Holly) classes are for digging into olympic lifting! I know you might feel you hate or are terrible at these but it’s likely because you haven’t gotten enough lifts in to feel comfortable with them! Come to this class to hone technique and learn more so you can be like HELL YEA I RULE AT OLY!
-Please latch the outer gate when you come in. This way puppies stay safe and the gate stays quiet.
-There is still room for serious lifting goals in the Epic Powerlifting Crew on Thurs at 5:30. This is a 90 minute class focused on pure strength.
Holly’s Semi Private Training!
There is still a tiny bit of room in the schedule for Semi Private training or to jump in with others who are paired! Reach out to other members or to me if you’re interested and we can get you started! This is a great opportunity to dig deeper into movements, work on goals you want to accomplish and anything else you’d like outside of group class. I love it because it’s the energy and fun of group class with the one on one support, programming and attention of personal training.
All evening classes will be canceled Thanksgiving day to accommodate family and friend events for coaches and members alike! Eat the food, get the gainz, enjoy the company ❤
The PR Party! Team Holly Class Time!
Given that many of you work until 5 pm, this could be taking over the normal Friday at 7 pm, Wed at 5:30 pm, or 8 pm Thurs. If none of these works, no worries! Let me know times that work for you! (email@example.com)
The PR Party! Team Ed Class Time!
Team Ed, email him at firstname.lastname@example.org which time(s) can work for each of you and he will do his best in opening up one additional class that works best for everyone!

We are now bringing on new coaches at NewEthic Strength & Conditioning in Oakland. Holly and myself, Ed, own the gym. We both coach various hours of the day, but we have room to bring on a few more trainers. We have 2,000 square feet of space in the gym and a private courtyard to train others. Here is a comprehensive list of all the equipment we have as well as lots of pictures.
Let’s start out with our 14 foot wide freestanding Rogue Infinity Rig. It has four squat racks, and lots of Pull Up Bars at various heights. We are a fully Rogue Outfitted Facility so expect to see this brand a lot! There is also a bare steel Speal Bar in the center. Attached is the Rogue Glute Ham Developer attached to a Wags & Weights Doghouse/3 sided Plyometric Box. The green line on the wall is 9 feet high and the white line above it is 10 feet high for wallball shots.
We have lots of open space for metabolic drills and Olympic Weightlifting.
Over on the other side, we have a Rogue Yoke as well as an additional Pull Up Bar. We have 4 Rogue (5 total) Plyometric Boxes that can be turned over to make a 20″ Box, 24″ Box, and 30″ Box.
We have a Supplement Shop and 8 total Dynamax Medicine Balls. We have 2 of each at 8, 10, 14, 20 pounds.
We also have a Private Office for Consultations.
We have 4 Black Concept2 PM5 Rowers. We also have 2 Ropes for rope climbs.
We have a Rogue Gun Rack with 3 Rogue Castro Bars (45 pounds), 3 Rogue Bella Bars (33 pounds), and 3 Rogue Technique Bars (15 pounds).
We have 10 Jump Ropes for people 5’2″-6’4″ tall and assorted Rogue Superbands on a Rogue Wall Rack of course.
The Rogue or Apollo Brand Kettle Bells are 9, 18, 26, 35, 44, 53, and 70 pounds.
We have 1,345 pounds worth of weights. Here is the list:
8 x 45# Steel Plates
10 x 45# Rogue HiTemp Bumper Plates
10 x 25# Rogue HiTemp Bumper Plates
20 x 10# Rogue HiTemp Bumper Plates
10 x 5# Steel Plates
10 x 2.5# Steel Plates
2 sets of Rogue Fraction Plates at .25, .5, .75, and 1 pound
Here are a few more angles of the space.
We have 5 sets of TRX Suspension Trainers.
There are 10 PerformBetter Padded Mats for ground work. We also have 4 sets of the Bodylastics Band System at 3, 5, 8, 13, 19, 23 pounds. This system is great because you can replicate traditional cable pulley movements, such as tricep pressdowns and wide lat pulldowns. We have a rope attachment, close grip handles, cambered bar, and wide pulldown bar which can be used with this system. They can be anchored anywhere on the infinity rig so they can be used to perform transverse plane movements like wood chops as well. I also recently installed another high cable pulley station for consistent resistance pulldowns.
Ok, now a list of equipment on our equipment shelf:
10 x Rogue AbMats, 5 x SlingShot Bench Bands, 6 x SlingShot Hip Circles, BenchBlokz Bench Board, 2 of each Rogue SlamBalls 15, 20, 30, 40, Gymnastics Chalk, 2 x 10 pound Sledgehammers for tire hits, FatGripz, MobilityWod Supernova, 15′ Agility Ladder, Classic Biceps Blaster, Pulling Harness for Sled Drags, SpudInc Farmers Walk Handles and a Rogue Deadlift Jack
Up top, we have 2 x Rogue Matador Dip Bars, Rogue Safety Squat Arms, Rogue Landmine, 6 x Rogue Gymnastics Rings
Now on to the 65 foot Long Private Courtyard, and huge sliding doors, and puppies!
Here is a view from the front door.
We have two tires. One weighs around 300 pounds. The other is about 120 pounds. These are great for tire flips, hammer hits, tire jumps and jump overs, step ups, and assisted pushups. They are very versatile for such a simple piece of equipment.
We also have the Rogue Westside Butcher Sled. We have 3 smaller Rogue E35 sleds that work great for rope sled pulls.
Ok, on to the Dumbbell Rack. We have Rubber Hex Dumbells at 5-50 pounds, as well as 75 and 100 pounds.
Here is another view of this side of the gym. Of course we have a California flag because you know, Oakland. We have 20 cubbies for people to put their personal belongings when they come in.
Here you will find 10 Black Foam Rollers, a Rumble Roller, and a TriggerPoint Therapy Roller.
We also have the complete set of Kelly Starret’s MobilityRx Posters for quick referencing.
Here are the 2 sets of 40 foot Battle Ropes and 2 Lifeline Power Wheels for easy ideas for small group training.
Here is another quick idea of a circuit with Incline Dumbell Press, Parrellete Dips, Russian Twists, and Kettlebell Swings. The workout ideas are literally endless with this space.
A few other pieces of equipment not necesarily pictured are Lacrosse Balls and PVC Pipes for Mobility, a Cambered Barbell, 2 pairs of Parrelettes, 2 x Rogue Incline Benches, and 2 x Rogue Flat Utility Benches.
We have grown even more since this original post! If you are interested in being a Coach here, or simply working out here, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a time to come in. Thanks for following along!
